James ‘Jim’ Wonderly

James Dean Wonderly, known to his family and friends as “Jim” was born and raised in Benkelman, Nebraska to James Calvin and Gleannys (Lowe) Wonderly on Oct. 5, 1962.
He passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 in Loveland, Colorado at the age of 56. Jim was a small-town kid hunting, fishing and playing ball with friends and family.
He was married to his first wife and they were blessed with two children, Joshua Dean and Julie Ann.
After a few years passed, he married the love of his life, Peggy and with this union he gained two more children that he called his own, Brad and Nicole.
Jim and Peggy made their home in Wray where they raised their children. Jim worked at Tallgrass at the time of his passing.
He enjoyed his job driving from job site to job site spotting deer and wildlife. Jim was fortunate to have a multitude of friends that he enjoyed joking with, visiting, playing a round of golf and playing cards. He always tried to see who he could snooker or tell the better story.
His greatest passion was hunting with his kids and grandkids. He and his family love to deer hunt, he even helped Peggy bag a deer.
Jim’s family will miss his humor and crazy wit. Peggy and his companions, Gigi and Duke along with his kids will be lost without him forever, but he will never be forgotten. His greatest joys and love were his grandkids playing and teasing. Jim always enjoyed family reunions with his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He loved sharing pictures, memories and posing for pictures with the family.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy; children Josh (Jen) Wonderly, Brad (Nikki) Spicknall, Julie (Nate) Box, Nicole Spicknall; grandchildren Alexis, Natalie, Eli and Aubree Wonderly, Makinizi, Cara, Landen, Kolten, Kaden and Landyen Spicknall, Tripp and Izzy Box, Haley Cook, Braden and Bree Spicknall; sister, Mindy (Leonard) Whomble; brother, Tony (Jeanette) Wonderly; brothers-in-law, Ken, Bill, Dan Shotkoski; sisters-in-law, Pat Luther and Theresa Loughman; numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Jim’s buddies and extended family will also be left to reflect on all the great times they enjoyed together. He loved to help others with nothing in return.
A Memorial service was held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the City Hall Round House in Wray, Colorado with Pastor Steve Wynkoop officiating.
Inurnment was held in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray, Colorado.
Cremation was requested. Memorials may be made to the Jim D. Wonderly Memorial Fund, c/o Wray State Bank, P.O. Box 277, Wray, Colorado 80758.
