Dorthea Mae Haarberg

Dorthea “Dot” Mae Haarberg was born to Clarence L and Mae Belle (Liston) Johnson in North Bend, Nebraska, on May 12, 1933.
On April 17, 1955, she married Elton John Haarberg in North Bend.  
Dot received a teaching certificate from Midland College in Fremont after high school and taught school in rural Dodge County. She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school at Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial. She was also an active member of Zion Willing Workers for over 30 years. She was a past Chairman of Chase County Extension Clubs, former President of Nebraska Wheat Hearts. Volunteer at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dot was nurturing and caregiving by nature and enjoyed caring for children and older friends and neighbors and tended large vegetable gardens and cherry, apricot and peach trees at her home south of Imperial. She also operated tractors, trucks, and combines, and tended cattle, chickens and pets on the family farm until retiring and moving, with her husband, to Colorado Springs in 1996.
Dot passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was 86 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include daughter, Beverly Ann (Randy) Karsh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Son David Robert Haarberg and spouse Mark Mulligan of Martinsburg, West Virginia; grandaughters, Aleah (Jim Steinke) Karsh of Solorado Springs, Colorado, Erika Karsh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother Robert C. (Ruth) Johnson of North Bend.
Memorial services will take place at a later date.
