Donna Jean Haislip

Donna Jean (Blake) Haislip was born April 10, 1924 in Dearborn, Mich. to Alan E. and Leona May (Post) Blake and passed away Sept. 18, 2017 at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Neb. at the age of 93.
She grew up in Dearborn, Mich., and after her schooling there, joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 where she served until the end of WWII.
In 1946, Donna married Elva Haislip in Calif. where they were both stationed. After their discharge from the Navy, they returned to his hometown of Pulaski, Va.
To this union, two children were born, Donna L. and Patricia A. After her husband passed away in 1957, she and her two daughters moved back to Dearborn, Mich. to be closer to family.
She got a job at the Ford Motor Company where her father, uncles and other family members worked. She retired from the company after 30 years in 1985 and remained living in Dearborn, Mich.
In 2011, she moved to Champion to live near her youngest daugter, Patricia and husband Dan Baney.
Donna Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elva, two sisters Lavona and Betty and oldest daughter Donna Leigh.
Funeral services were held in Pulaski ,Va., on Sept. 26, 2017 with full military honors.
Liewer Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
