Delpha I. Nordhausen

Delpha Irene (Brown) Nordhausen was born Dec. 29, 1926, to Andrew Jackson and Gertrude Orveta (Witt) Brown, on a farm north of Wauneta, Nebraska. As a youngster, Delpha attended the Garfield School reaching the fifth grade. She then moved with her family to the Hamlet, vicinity where she attended school through her junior year. Delpha continued her education in Wauneta graduating from Wauneta High School in 1944.
On Jan. 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ansel H. Brunkhorst. To this union three sons were born: Mickey Alan, Woody Ray and Loren Dale. After experiencing the loss of two infant sons, Woody and Loren, a son Ansel Lynn came to enrich the family.
Delpha was married to Floyd Nordhausen on May 28, 1974. The couple engaged in farming and ranching retiring in Wauneta in 1982.
Delpha passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 at the Wauneta Care Therapy Center.  She was 93 years of age.
Survivors include sons Mickey (Gwen) Brunkhorst, Lynn (Rhonda) Brunkhorst, all of Wauneta; step-daughter Elizabeth Nordhausen and family, United Arab Emirates; grandchildren Kelly (Carey) Brunkhorst, Kimberly (Brandon) Kuykendall, Neil (Sara) Brunkhorst, Kari (Brian) Sprenger, Raelyn Brunkhorst; great-grandchildren Seth Brunkhorst, Alex Brunkhorst, Christien Kuykendall, Jaelyn Kuykendall, Logan Brunkhorst, Harper Brunkhorst, Peyton Sprenger, Taylor Sprenger; sister Annabel Pump of Venango.
Memorial services (Private Family Only) were held Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, 10 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta, with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating. Inurnment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
A memorial has been suggested to the Brunkhorst Family for a future designation.
