    Cynthia Ann (Cole) Brunkhorst of Palisade, Neb., passed away at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
    Cindy was born Oct. 7, 1950 in Great Bend, Kan., to James Union and Addie Louise (Mann) Cole.
    She grew up in several towns as her father was a career soldier. They moved to Springfield, Mo., where Cindy graduated from Parkview High School in 1968. She went on to graduate from Springfield College of Cosmetology and worked as a hair dresser for several years.
    On Aug. 2, 1969, Cindy married Bill Williams and to this union a son, Brian, was born on April 9, 1981. The couple divorced in 1994.  On Nov. 3, 1995, Cindy married Dennis Brunkhorst at Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home at Palisade.
    Cindy was employed as a dietician for the Wauneta Schools for 16 years and later by Imperial Schools for five years until her health would no longer allow her to work.
    She was the past-president of the Schools Nutrition School Association (SNSA) and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
    Denny and Cindy enjoyed traveling all over the United States and spending time with children and grandchildren.
    Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Johns.
    She is survived by husband Denny of Palisade; son, Brian (Leigh) Williams, of Ogallala; two daughters, Kari (Brian) Sprenger, of Sidney and Raylyn Brunkhorst of Wauneta; and grandchildren, Cody, Taylor, Jaxson and Quinn Williams and Peyton and Taylor Sprenger; numerous family and a host of friends.
    Memorials may be given in her name to Imperial Schools.
    The family will honor Cindy’s wishes to be cremated.
    There will not be a local service.
    Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is entrusted with arrangements.
