Charles “Dave” Irey, 74

Charles David (Dave) Irey, 74, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, in Imperial, NE on May 7, 2025. He was born on January 28, 1951 in Oshkosh, NE to Laura Mae and Leroy Irey. He began his education in a two-room country school, District 56, and graduated from Garden Count High School. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (Go Big Red!!!) where he graduated with a degree in Agronomy. His degree and his gift of gab led him to a career as a seed salesman for Hoegemeyer Seed and others. His last position was with Frenchman Valley Coop, from which he retired.
In his youth Dave joined 4-H and FFA. He was a member of his high school golf team, and he carried his love for the game throughout the rest of his life. He had a passion for pheasant hunting and his bird dog Bo. He also loved fishing and even adventured with his wife Sue to Alaska for the mighty king salmon. Dave was a scout master for many years with Troop 199 in Imperial, NE and touched the lives of many young aspiring outdoorsman. In that spirit, he and his children, whom he loved and adored, enjoyed many adventures out camping and exploring the great outdoors. Later in life he was blessed with his grandkids he loved, always spending time with them and giving them a hard time, he was so onery and it rubbed off on each of them. Another of Dave’s great life’s passions was his membership with the local ABATE District 12 where he served many years as the district representative. Riding his bike with his friends and his son and his daughter was one of his greatest joys.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Leroy Irey and Laura Mae Irey (Flemming), his brother Thomas Irey, his cousin Stephan Lerdall, and many aunts, uncles and grandparents.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Sue Irey and his loving children Christoper Irey (Alisha), Sean White (Katie), and Sarah Garcia, as well as his adoring grandchildren, Bailey (Andrew), Carson, Emmalee, Simon, Johnathan, Braidon, Carter, Rikki, Knox, and Cristian. Also, by his sisters Susan Albee and Betty James and his Aunt Selma Irey
