Billy Dean Hansen
Billy Dean Hansen, age 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his fiancé by his side after receiving a blessing from the Chaplin on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Billy was born Sept. 5, 1961 in McCook to parents Robert A. and Evelyn B. (Quick) Hansen. He was one of seven children who grew up south of Maywood where he also attended school. Billy graduated from Maywood High School with the Class of 1979.
On March 17, 1978, Billy married Deborah K. (Cupp) Hansen in Oberlin, Kansas. The couple was blessed with four children.
Billy was an outdoorsman who loved his farm cats, working cattle, farming the land and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was a wonderful cook. You could always count on Billy to have something on the smoker. He was a member of the Garden Prairie Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deb Hansen; and daughter, Jennifer Hansen.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Derrick (Nicola) Hansen of Maywood, Crystal (Clifford) Lakey of Imperial and Heather (Zach) True of Minden; fiancé, Mary Tropf of McCook; brothers, Don (Connie) Hansen of Brady and Darrell (Jane) Hansen of Katy, Texas; sisters, Deb (Don) Kreis of Gothenburg, Jeanette (Steve) Graff of Arnold, Sandy (Larry) Staberg of Lincoln and Gina (Steve) Lee of Sutherland; six grandchildren, Mason, Harper, Avery, Gavin, Henry and Olivia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and lifelong friends.
Visitation with family greeting friends was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 23 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Pastor Dale Heimer officiating.
Burial followed in Garden Prairie Cemetery, north of McCook.
