Beulah Rose Purdy

Beulah Rose (Einspahr) Purdy was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Enders, Nebraska, to Theodore William and Susie Virginia (Herbert) Einspahr. Beulah grew up in Enders and attended school in Wauneta through the eighth grade. On Sept. 29, 1934, Beulah married Clyde Edward Leon Purdy in Oberlin, Kansas, and to this union four children were born: Gary, Marles, Ron and Jerry. Beulah and Clyde first settled in Wauneta, and later resided in Payette, Idaho, Burns, Oregon, Imperial, North Platte, Ogallala and Grant, before moving back to Wauneta. Beulah was employed as a cook in a café in Wauneta. She also worked at the Heritage of Wauneta nursing home and the Wauneta Creamery.
Beulah enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, quilting and embroidery. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and she especially loved giving them all Christmas gifts.
Beulah passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center. She was 99 years of age.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; parents Theodore and Susie Einspahr; son Gary; daughter-in-law Dorene Purdy; son-in-law Melvin Rowley; brothers Dick (Ann) Einspahr, Bob Einspahr, Don (Pat) Einspahr, Wayne (Shirley) Einspahr; sisters Millie (Bud) Long, Norma Jean (Joe) Schultz; and great-granddaughters Jessie Purdy and Katie Rowley.
Survivors include daughter Marles Rowley of Spring Hill, Florida; sons Ronald (Sherie) Purdy of Ogallala and Jerry (Tina) Purdy of Imperial; 16 grandchildren, Terry (Sandy) Rowley of Albany, Oregon, Tammi (John) Cash of Springhill, Florida, Tim (Pam) Rowley of Grant, Jolene (Dan) Stephenson of Branson, Missouri, Jodie Touslee and friend Lary of Fort Scott, Kansas, Jeff (Kim) Rowley of Wichita, Kansas, Rick (Noelle) Purdy of Collins, Iowa, Craig (Laura) Purdy of Kearney, Randy (Lisa) Purdy of Elm Creek, Kristie (Ed) Loudermilk of Bellevue, Bryon Purdy of Ogallala, Lisa (Nick) Roberts of Port Arthur, Texas, Amy (Kevin) LaVante of North Platte, Stephanie (Wade) Wiezorek of Hershey, Jeremy Purdy of Imperial, Jason (Erin) Purdy of Hutchinson, Kansas; 27 great-grandchildren, Rachael and Gary Purdy, Kellen Purdy, Randall (Paige) Purdy, Jolie and Brie Purdy, Derek (Amber) Loudermilk, Tasha Loudermilk and friend Chris Hearn, Krystal Loudermilk and friend Chris Yost, Dylan and Aspen LaVante, Jonah, Silas, Eden, Miriam and Sparrow Purdy, Angela (Eric) Reamer, Sam Rowley, Joshua (Hannah) Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, Jacob Stephenson, Liz Touslee, Ryan Touslee, Korina Rowley and Kade Rowley; three great-great-grandchildren: Urijah Loudermilk, Gracie Loudermilk and Ellie Reamer; brother Alvin (Kay) Einspahr of Enders; and sister Delores (Claude) Cappel of McCook.
Funeral services for Beulah Purdy were held Tuesday, May 21, 10:30 a.m. at the Imperial Berean Church, with Pastor Matt Maxwell and Rev. Gary Hunt officiating.
Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
Visitation was held Monday, May 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been suggested to the Purdy family to be donated in Beulah’s memory.
