Betty L. Foxworthy, 91 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018.
Betty was born Sept. 3, 1927, at York, Nebraska to George and Marion (Otis) Keyes. She graduated from York High School.
In June 1948, she married Dale Kemling, and the couple made their home outside of Grant. Her life would be blessed with three children, Jim, William (Bill), and Genise.
Following the end of her first marriage, Betty would eventually marry Cliff Foxworthy. The couple moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where Betty worked at Woolco and came to love the outdoors. She and Cliff enjoyed collecting rocks, making jewelry from their finds, hiking, and fishing.
Following Cliff’s death in 1987, Betty eventually returned to Nebraska in 1993, settling in Ogallala, where she worked for over 25 years at ALCO. Betty enjoyed her time working at ALCO, and even became somewhat territorial over the department she was charged with maintaining. Her retirement coincided with the closing of the store in 2015, retiring at the age of 87!
Betty moved this past month to Imperial Manor, in which she had the good fortune of living next door to her sister, Marilyn Poppe, who was welcomed into eternal life by the Lord less than 24 hours before Betty.
Both Betty and Marilyn believed that in the Father’s house, would be many dwelling places prepared by Jesus; it is comforting to think that their rooms might still be side by side.
Betty enjoyed working on puzzles and liked to glue her finished work together and display them on the walls. She also enjoyed crafts and giving her homemade gifts to many family members and friends.  She had a special tradition of making ornaments for each of her grandchildren to have for Christmas.
This year, as her family looks over their finished ornaments for 2018, they will be reminded of how Betty’s faith in Jesus finally became sight after 91 years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a granddaughter, Darlynn Kemling; brothers, Lowell and Bob; sisters, Doris Harris, Ruth Wood and Marilyn Poppe.
Betty is survived by her children, Jim (Star) Kemling of Grant, William “Bill” (Gin) Kemling of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Genise (John) Anderson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Keyes of Lincoln; sister, Katherine Merchant of York; along with many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Betty’s memory for later designation by the family. Condolences can be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
Services were held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Church in Ogallala with Pastor Eric Wait officiating. Burial followed in the Ogallala Cemetery.
