Wednesday, August 29, an evening thunderstorm dumped over an inch of rain in town in a short amount of time. Streets around town were inundated for a short time after the storm passed by. Above, the run-off ditch west of the school (Longhorn River), was overflowing and covering the sidewalk. It didn’t take long for the rain water to soak into the parched ground around town. Our gauge at the Republican showed 1.11 inches of rain. That made Thursday extremely humid with the temps climbing into the upper 90’s.
