Susan C. “Sue” Sis

Susan C. “Sue” Sis was born on September 7, 1935, in Trenton, Nebraska, to John and Gertrude (Rotter) Dillon. She attended Trenton Public Schools and graduated from Trenton High School with the Class of 1953.
On February 12, 1955, Sue married the love of her life, Edward V. “Eddie” Sis, at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton, Nebraska. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. They made their home south of Stratton, Nebraska, where they raised their five children and lived for 50 years before relocating to Imperial, Nebraska.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. While raising her family, she wrote a local news column for the Hitchcock County News and enjoyed a successful career as an Avon representative. She was also a loyal Nebraska Cornhusker fan who loved cheering on the Huskers.
A faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton, Sue generously shared her musical talents by serving as the church organist for 30 years. She was also an active member of the Altar Society and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Sue passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Imperial, Nebraska, at the age of 90.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Dillon; her beloved husband, Eddie; her infant son, Daniel; her sister, Joanne Keller-Harrison; her parents-in-law, Louis “Lou” and Margaret “Maggie” Sis; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert “Bob” and Bette Sis; her sister-in-law, Peggy Ann Sis; her son-in-law, Edward “Ed” Elliott; her infant granddaughter, Crystal Elliott; and her great-granddaughter, Destiny Rose Henne.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Scott Sis of Beatrice, Nebraska; Leah Elliott of Laramie, Wyoming; Laura Lee Sis of Laramie, Wyoming; Roger Sis and his wife, Denise, of Kearney, Nebraska; and Maggie Sis of Imperial, Nebraska.
Sue is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Sarah Henne, Nicole Sis, Katie Svitak, Jennifer (Billy) Newcomb, Dustin (Ericia) Elliott, Paige (Adam) Keahey, Dillon Elliott, Hannah (Josh) Hancock, Rebecca Fort, and Erin Fort and her fiancé, Kyle; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members.
