An Outside Insider

Some will say that I’m on the inside since I have a family member employed by the city and that my perspective is skewed by that.  Some will say that I’m on the outside since I don’t live in Imperial and that my perspective, therefore, doesn’t matter.  I hope by being an outside insider my perspective will be considered by all.
Whenever there are extensive changes happening, like in Imperial’s city government, it’s good to get insights from outside, so I applauded the decision to bring in an interim city administrator from elsewhere. It’s important to ask, then, why this interim administrator AND others feel they can no longer continue to work in the city government. Are their perspectives wrong and even more changes need to happen to form a reset?
Or, are their perspectives being ignored?
As an outside insider I don’t know the answer to these questions and have minimal influence. I plead for those of you on the inside to be informed and involved in the hopes of preventing further division and further attrition of families from Imperial. I also plead for the officials in the city government to recognize the gravity of these questions and to move forward with answers that are best for the city.
