Imperial Pinnacle Bank Legion hosts games

    It was a long hot weekend of baseball at Campbell Park June 27-28. The juniors and seniors each had two games in the heat of the day on Saturday and Sunday.
    The juniors started the weekend off right, taking a win over Lexington, 4-2. Crayton Buller started on the mound, pitching six and a third innings, giving up five hits and striking out nine. L. Fryzek came in for the final five outs of the game.
    The Horns scored one in the fourth and fifth and two in the sixth, while Lexington was held to just two runs in the sixth.
    The Seniors followed with a win Saturday over Wray Co., 12-3. After a rough start in the first inning, giving up two runs, the Senior Horns bounced back with six of their own in the bottom of the first.
    Kaden Vogt got the win on the mound, throwing four innings and giving up only two hits and three runs. The game was called in the middle of the fifth inning due to the eight run rule.
    On Sunday, both teams faced Broken Bow. The juniors went down to the wire, but pulled out a 12-10 win.
    After the Horns went up two in the first, Broken Bow came back scoring three in the top of the second to take the lead. Imperial scored two in the bottom of the second to go back up 4-3.
    Broken Bow scored one to tie in the third and another in the top of the fourth to take the lead. The Horns scored one in the bottom of the fourth to tie it again.
    Both teams scored one in the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Broken Bow scored four and took the lead 10-6, but the Horns rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs, aided by a grand slam home run from Sawyer Sauder to clinch the win, 12-10.
    In the final game of the weekend, the senior Horns lost to Broken Bow 6-10.
