Storms leave Imperial powerless

Sunday afternoon, a thunderstorm built directly on top of Imperial, dumping a quick half inch of rain in town.
The storm ended in town about 2:15 p.m., and at 2:20, the electricity went out all over town. City crews were deployed and came to the conclusion that it wasn’t our power stations that had caused the outage.
The city was informed that the main power line that feeds Imperial was down and the fix wasn’t in our towns control. Restoration depended on the external utility provider fixing the incoming line.
Power was finally restored nearly three hours later, at about 5:00 p.m. There were reports of micro-bursts around the Enders Lake area that broke off some power poles.
Monday night brought another .13 inches of rain to Imperial, with more chances of rain on Tuesday.
