Boys are State Champs again, girls eighth

    It was a good weekend at the State Track Meet in Omaha Burke Stadium, May 22 and 23. The Longhorn boys brought home their third State Championship in four years. The girls had a good showing, finishing eighth, out of the 48 teams that scored.
    For the boys, the team tallied 55.33 points, outscoring second place Battle Creek by 18 points.  The boys captured medals in 10 of the 12 events they competed in.
    The Longhorns had two event champions and both were all class gold medalists.
    Tate Hubbard won the Pole Vault, setting a new school record of 15’ 6”, which topped all vaults in all the classes. Hubbard also ran a leg in the 4x100 relay.
    Noah Rau won the discus with a throw of 196’ 4”, setting a new class C State Meet record and winning the all class gold. Rau also placed sixth in the shot put.
    Lukas Fries brought home medals in all four events he participated in. Fries took second in high jump, second in the 300 Meter Hurdles, fourth in the 110 Meter Hurdles and ran the anchor leg in the 4x400 relay that finished third.
    Austin Smith finished sixth in the 200 meter dash and seventh in the 100 meter dash and ran on the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay.
    The 4x400 relay team finished in third and the 4x800 relay took seventh place. The 4x100 relay team was disqualified for a baton exchange that went out of the allowed box.
    Haven Hauxwell finished 14th in the 3200 meter run, Spencer Kelley finished 15th in pole vault and Brandon Chavira Sanchez finished 23 inh the 400 meter dash.
    The girls brought home five medals from the 10 events they participated in.
    Addison Hauxwell finished second in the 3200 meter run, sixth in the 1600 meter run, running personal best times in both, and ran a leg on the 4x800 relay that finished second.
    Avery Beemer finished third in the pole vault, clearing 11’ 6”. Beemer also ran legs on the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
    The 4x800 relay of (Addison Hauxwell, Ashlyn Heermann, Aria McNair, Emily Randall), finished second.
    The 4x400 relay team of (Riley Rusher, Emily Randall, Hayley Rusher, Avery Beemer), finished fifth.
    The 4x100 relay of (Avery Beemer, Riley Rusher, Kadence Wallin, Hayley Rusher), finished 12th.Miranda Spady finished in 13th place in both the discus and shot put.
    Hayley Rusher finished 22nd in the 400 meter run and did not record a height in the pole vault. Emily Randall placed 22nd in the 800 meter run.
