As the filing deadline for incumbents approaches in February for the 2026 Primary Election, a few more people have filed for local offices, according to Chase County Clerk Wendy Moe. This year’s primary election is on May 12
For the primary election, incumbents have until Tuesday, Feb. 17 to file for re-election, while the filing for non-incumbents is Monday, March 2. This does not include the villages in the county, which are only on the general election ballot based on state statute. Those wanting to run for a village office have until July 15 to file for incumbents, and Aug. 3 for non-incumbents. Filing for local elections is completed at the county clerk’s office at the courthouse, while statewide candidates file on the Secretary of State’s website or in person in Lincoln.
