CCS boys finish fourth at Holiday Tourney

The CCS Longhorn Boys Basketball Team traveled to Chadron Dec. 29-31 for the Holiday basketball tournament and came home with a fourth place finish out of the eight team field.
In the first round, the Longhorns faced the Chadron Cardinals.
The Longhorns got out to a lead in the first quarter and held onto it throughout the game. After leading by 10 at the half, the Horns finished the game with an 11 point win, 62-51. That advanced the Horns in the championship bracket to face Bridgeport.
The Horns had just played Bridgeport on Dec. 23, losing a 41-51 contest. The Bulldog defense was even stiffer the second time around, holding the Horns to just 33 points while putting up 57.
That loss dropped CCS into the third and fourth place game against the Badgers of Valentine who had a 6-1 record entering the game.
The Horns looked strong in the first half and took a took a two point lead into the halftime break, 34-32.
In the second half, Valentine seemed to have made adjustments that worked against the Horns and pulled away to a fifteen point win, 56-71. The loss gave CCS a fourth place finish in the tournament.
