Guy George Curtis, 93

Just shy of his 94th birthday, Guy George Curtis passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his wife, Ruth, and three children, Paula, Kathleen and Henry. Guy grew up in Imperial, Nebraska and returned after law school and two years in the military to practice law with his father, Henry. He served as Chase County attorney for 24 years and also served for several years as the city attorney for Imperial. Guy was active in the community until he retired in 2003. At the urging of their kids, Guy and Ruth moved to Fort Collins to live close to their seven grandchildren.
Guy had two big loves in his life – his wife, Ruth, and the family they created together over their 68-year marriage, and learning about and discussing the “big topics.” There was always lively debate at the dinner table on politics, philosophy and religion. For many years, Guy wrote a weekly letter-to-the-editor in the Imperial newspaper. He was passionate about freedom and liberty and always looked for ways to engage with others on those topics. He was also known for his “Ruth columns” where he poked good fun at married life.
In the last year, Guy’s home was known by his caregivers as the Pancake House. Ruth kept the griddle hot with Guy’s favorite buttermilk pancakes and lively conversations were also served up at the kitchen table. Guy passed along his love of learning and debate to his grandchildren and so the conversations continue…
Those of you who knew Guy well, know that he wouldn’t want any fuss. We invite you, instead, to tell a favorite story and raise a glass to wish him well as he journeys on to his next adventure. If you’d like to send a card or letter to Ruth and the family, please mail to Kathy Harward, 5518 White Willow Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80528.
