Imp. Ministerial, C. C. 4-H sponsoring diaper drive

    The Imperial Ministerial Council and Chase County 4-H are joining forces throughout October for a diaper drive to be housed in HUB 308.
    Looking to fill needs in the community, HUB 308’s Jill Moline jumped on a suggestion by Bill Sullivan with St. Isadore’s Thrift Store to talk to the Imperial Ministerial Council about the idea of a diaper drive. Plans came together quickly after the June conversation.
    Chase Co. 4-H was looking for a community service project for National 4-H Week and was excited to participate in something that fills a need of local families.
    With all parties on board, the drive will run throughout October until Nov. 2. Any size of diaper will be accepted, from infant to adult, including partial packages. Wipes may also be donated.
    Other drop off locations are Super Foods and Imperial Churches.
    Moline is excited to be able to distribute diapers locally. She anticipates local residents from across Chase County will be able to pick up diapers by December, adding there’s no restrictions on who can get diapers.
    Moline envisioned HUB 308 being open for pick up twice a month, once during an afternoon and a second in the evening. Faith United Methodist Church has volunteers lined up to help, but Moline said more volunteers are welcome.
    Chase County 4-H members, Clover Kids and up, who donate diapers and wipes at the Chase County Extension Office will be entered in a drawing.
    Jan Schultz with St. Patrick’s Council of Catholic Women said the group will continue their annual diaper drive within St. Patrick’s with their diapers going to pregnancy centers in Holyoke, Colorado and McCook.
