CCS girls win at Ogallala, second at UNK

    The Lady Longhorns edged out the Minden Whippets, Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Ogallala Cross Country Invitational, held at Crandall Creek Golf Course, by a single point. The boys came home with a tie for eighth with Cozad.
    The CCS girls had three runners medal in the top 15. Addison Hauxwell finished second, Alayna Smith eighth and Tessa Smith 14th. Rounding out the team were Liz Hanna 17th and Paige Nickless 60th.
    For the boys, the top finisher was Haven Hauxwell eighth, Spencer Kelley 36th, Bryce Mandeville 39th, Brandon Chavira Sanchez 54th and Camden Kunnemann 81st.
    The girls JV’s both were medalists, with Zoey Kelley in seventh and Kate Colson finishing eighth. Kris Burke ran JV for the boys finishing in 49th place.
    Knox Paisley finished eighth in the junior high race, with Noah Briggs finishing 25th.

    On Monday, Sept. 29, the teams traveled to Kearney for the UNK Invitational, ran on the same course as the State Cross Country Meet.
    The girls team finished in second place, while the boys finished in 19th.
    The girls had two runners finish in the medals, Addison Hauxwell finished ninth and Alayna Smith 15th. T. Smith 21st, Hanna 32nd, Kelley 121st, Heermann 127th, Nickless 133rd, Colson 146th.
    On the boys side, Haven Hauxwell was the only medalist, finishing in sixth place. Kelley was 84th, Chavira Sanchez 130th, Mandeville 151st, Worth 185th, Kunnemann 243rd, Burke 281st, Hanna 331st.
