Saturday, Sept. 27, Boise State will host Appalachian State for a home football game that will feature helmets, painted by local artist, Armando Villarreal.
The helmets pay homage to the state of Idaho. The helmets were announced on social media on Monday. The blue helmets feature the school’s mascot, (bronco), on one side, the Idaho State Capitol on the other and have Albertsons Stadium and the Boise River on the back.
Additionaly, the front bumper features the city’s area code 208, which is also the height (in feet) of the Capital’s dome. The University named the helmets “The Front Porch.”
Villarreal painted 164 helmets for the game. You can see the helmets by watching the game Saturday, Sept. 27 on FS1 at 5:00 p.m. MT.
Armando and wife Lora will be in attendance at the game. Stay tuned, because there is another helmet that will debut later this season.
