The Broncos Volleyball Team traveled to 12-1 Southwest on Tuesday, Sept. 16. It was just over two weeks ago that the two teams faced each other in the Cambridge Tournament, with Southwest coming out on top two sets to one.
On Tuesday it would be the first to win three sets and unfortunately that was Southwest. The Broncos stuck with the Roughriders for most of all three sets, but could never get the upper hand on them.
Southwest won in a three set sweep, 25-17, 25-21 and 25-16. That brought the Broncos record to 8-4.
Thursday night, the Broncos welcomed Maywood-Hayes Center to town for a rematch from just five days before. M-HC won the first match, winning two-out-of-three sets.
The Broncos started the night hot, beating M-HC 25-14 in the opening set. The momentum shifted in the second set and the Wolves road it through the third set as well winning the second set 16-25 and the third 20-25.
The Broncos weren’t done yet and stormed back in the fourth set, winning 25-15, setting up a fifth set, played to 15.
It was neck and neck all the way to the end, but the Wolves pulled out the last two points to take the win 15-13 and take the match. That brought M-HC’s record to 13-3 and dropped W/P to 8-5. The Broncos traveled to Paxton Thursday, Sept. 23 for a four team, one day tournament.
