Cross Country Teams finish 1st and 3rd

    Chase County Schools held the Invitational Cross Country Meet at Imperial Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 11. 11 boys and nine girls teams participated.
    The Chase County Longhorn Girls Team finished in first place, with four runners medaling in the top 15. Addison Hauxwell of Chase County was the winner of the girls race, outrunning second place by 45 seconds, finishing the 5000 meter course in 20:12.47.
    Tessa Smith finished fifth, Liz Hanna 13th and Alayna Smith 14th. Rounding out Chase County’s Team was Kate Colson in 30th, Paige Nickless 33rd and Zoey Kelley in 37th.
    The Boys finished in third place, just three points behind Ogallala. Perkins County took the win.
    Top finisher for Chase County was Haven Hauxwell finishing 5th. Also medaling for the Longhorns was Spencer Kelley in 13th and Bryce Mandeville in 14th.
    Brandon Chavira Sanchez finished 27th, Hayden Worth 44th, Camden Kunnemann 51st, Kris Burke 78th and Ethan Hanna 79th.
    The junior high girls finished first as a team with three medalists. Bennett Smith was 3rd, Anna McNair 6th and Hayden Fowler 10th. Lena Chrisman finished 29th.
    The junior high boys don’t have enough for a team, but both runners medaled. Knox Paisley finished 9th and Noah Briggs was 10th.
