Chase County Fair set to delight with weeklong festivities

The Chase County Fair and Expo returns to Imperial August 11-16, bringing with it a full slate of livestock shows, family-friendly entertainment, exhibits, and evening grandstand performances. The week-long celebration of community, agriculture, and fun promises something for everyone.
Monday, August 11
The fair kicks off early Monday morning with livestock check-ins and weigh-ins beginning at 8 a.m. All swine, sheep, goats, and market beef must be in place by 11 a.m., followed by the judging of 4-H and FFA exhibit hall entries and market beef ultrasounds. The afternoon turns to horsepower of a different kind with an exhibition barrel race at 3 p.m., followed by peewee and open barrel race runs at 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
Tuesday, August 12
Tuesday’s agenda begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 4-H/FFA Swine Show in the show arena. The sheep and goat shows follow at 11 a.m., while open class exhibits are judged starting at 12:30 p.m. The exhibit building also opens to the public at 12:30 p.m. The evening brings rodeo action, with the Ranch Rodeo Calcutta at 6 p.m. in the Allo Arena and the Ranch Rodeo itself at 6:45 p.m. in the Grandstand Arena.
Wednesday, August 13
A packed Wednesday begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 4-H/FFA Beef Show. From noon to 4 p.m., kids can enjoy the Climbing Wall Bounce Extravaganza at the Allo Arena. Business booths and the 4-H exhibit building open at 12:30 p.m., just in time for Mutton Bustin’ and turtle race registrations at 1 p.m. Homemade ice cream and pie, courtesy of the Champion Community Center, will be served at 2 p.m.
The action continues into the evening with Mutton Bustin’ at 3 p.m., the Frozen T-Shirt Contest at 4:30 p.m., and the opening of carnival rides and games at 5 p.m. The day closes with a Draft Horse Competition at 6:30 p.m. and a Christian Family Show at 7 p.m. featuring 3D Gospel and Delisa Dawn.
Thursday, August 14
Thursday begins at 9 a.m. with the Round Robin competition at the Show Barn. Expo businesses open at noon, and free Critter Close-Up shows run at 1, 3, and 6:30 p.m. in the Open Air Pavilion. Carnival rides are open from 5 to 11 p.m., with day passes available at the ticket booth.
A highlight of the evening is the 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by a performance by La Fiera De Ojinaga in the Allo Arena at 8 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.
Friday, August 15
Youth and community events take the spotlight Friday. The day begins with a 4-H Rocket Launch at 8 a.m. and Critter Close-Up at 10 a.m. Pedal Tractor Pull registration starts at 11 a.m. for kids ages 4–12, followed by the competition at noon and an adult pull to follow. The cornhole tournament, limited to Chase County residents, starts at 1 p.m. Bingo runs all day at the Lions Stand.
Goat roping kicks off at 2:30 p.m., with more Critter Close-Up shows at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. The evening concert at 7:30 p.m. features Ty Meyer Redferrin with special guests Anna Lucia and DJ Grant Fisher at the Allo Arena. The 4-H Exhibit Building closes at the same time.
Saturday, August 16
The final day of the fair begins bright and early at 7 a.m. with the Annual Chase County Fair Run, followed by the beloved parade at 10:30 a.m. titled “Doin’ Life at the Chase County Fair.” Afterward, the Imperial Young Farmers & Ranchers will host a BBQ west of the fairgrounds.
From noon to 4 p.m., car enthusiasts can enjoy the Car Nutz “Cruize-In” and ABATE Motorcycle Shows. The Dance Crew Contest registration opens at noon, and the 4-H exhibit building and expo businesses open at 12:30 p.m. Lions Club Bingo continues from 1 to 11 p.m.
Afternoon and evening events include the open cornhole tournament at 1 p.m., Critter Close-Up shows throughout the evening, and the grandstand concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring Hudson Westbrook, Ned LeDoux, and DJ Grant Fisher. Carnival rides run from 1 to 11 p.m.
Rugged Man Media announced that for the third year in a row they’ll be working with Chase County 4-H and the Chase County Fair & Expo to stream their livestock shows. All shows listed will be streamed live on stormyfairs.net and Stormy Sports Net and the free Stormy Sports apps.
