Living Well with high blood pressure in Imperial
Are you living with hypertension (HTN) or high blood pressure? Are you concerned about developing HTN? Are you caring for someone with HTN? This class is for you!
Join this 4-week series aimed to improve HTN self-management. Topics include basics of hypertension control, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation, medication management, stress management, and creating short-term and long-term action plans.
Living Well is being offered FREE by Nebraska Extension beginning on September 3, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial. Hypertension affects approximately 116 million adults in the United States and more than 1 billion adults worldwide. Hypertension is the leading cause of CVD morbidity and mortality.
No registration is required but attendance at all sessions is highly encouraged. Participants who successfully complete this 4-week series will be eligible for a drawing for a FREE blood pressure monitor to help maintain a healthy and happy life.
Participants will learn how to control hypertension self-management through this course and be supported by Nebraska Extension Health Coach, Brenda Aufdenkamp. Participants will increase knowledge about hypertension self-management; increase the stage of readiness to make lifestyle changes required for successful self-management; and promote positive behavior changes in nutrition, physical activity, stress management, tobacco use, and medication management.
This 4-week series will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. MT at the Chase County Hospital located at 600 West 12th Street in Imperial on September 3, September 24, October 1, and October 8.
This Hypertension Control course is offered in partnership with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the University of Nebraska Extension in partnership with the Chase County Hospital.
