Shari Barnard, 84

Shari (Sharon) Krausnick Barnard received her upgrade to heaven July 9, 2025. Shari was born February 9, 1941 to Dr. Keith Krausnick and Elna (Lowry) Krausnick in Denver, Colorado. Shari grew up in Lamar, CO where she excelled in academics and sports. She especially enjoyed competing in English Sidesaddle riding on the many Egyptian Arabian horses her family raised. She continued with her competitive streak through being an avid and loyal Nebraska Husker and Denver Bronco fan.
In 1964 Shari met the love of her life, Douglas Barnard at Springfield University in Springfield, MA. They were married June 26, 1964, after knowing each other for only six months. To this blessed union they welcomed five children: Eric, Todd, Kala, Jana and Kyle. Shortly before Shari’s passing they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. They truly modeled commitment, love, and a biblical marriage to all who knew them.
Shari’s deep love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Her faith shone through in her tireless service, sharing God’s love with those around her through compassion, a listening ear and fellowship. Her love for Doug and her family were her greatest joys. If her kids were interested in something she became a dedicated student of their interests, whether it was coaching cheerleading, attending countless track meets, wrestling meets, football games, or music contests, she threw herself in whole-heartedly. She became proficient in tracking stats, running score towers, and knowing the placings of riders in the motocross circuits. Often, she knew the results before the riders did, following many riders and creating a respected social media presence among them. When a grandchild played sports, she followed avidly from across the miles. She even had a fantasy motocross team and would pick winners upon her study of their stats. Her family truly was her passion. Shari was creative in more ways than can be counted. She could knit any item without a pattern just by looking at it. She was rarely without knitting needles, a Swedish weaving, sewing project, or curled up with a good book. She was never seen without her coffee in hand, and she always had a smile to share.
Shari is preceded in death by her brother Charles (Bud) and sister-in-law Sandra Krausnick, nephew Kerry, nieces Kris and Kelly Krausnick, parents Keith and Elna Krausnick, parents-in-law Richard and Ruth Barnard, and grandson Terrin Barnard. She is survived by her husband Doug and children Eric, Todd (Teresa), Kala (Brad) Yost, Jana (Richard) Sherer, and Kyle, 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, July 25th, 2025, at 1:00 at Christian Faith Outreach in Imperial, NE with a time of coffee and fellowship following.
