The Legion baseball teams had a busy week with an away game against Curtis and a home game against Broken Bow.
On Wednesday, both the junior and senior teams traveled to compete against the Frontier County Outlaws. Both teams were successful in capturing the win against their opponents, with the final scores being 11-4 for the juniors and 11-2 for the upperclassmen.
That following Saturday, both teams were set to play against Brokenbow. The juniors fell once again with the score of 3-5. After the completion of the underclassmen’s game, the opposing team claimed the victory over the Horns with a score of 0-8.
When asked, Head Coach Jeff Lempke stated he was proud of what the teams have accomplished. “We play in a very competitive league, and I think our senior group of young men fit in very well. Most of our senior games are spread out so we can have all our arms fully rested.” Lempke said. “I think this might be one of the biggest group of true seniors this program has ever had. These guys have lots of experience and success from past seasons. They have done a great job helping with younger first-year legion kids.”
Looking forward for the Horns, they will compete in a home game on Thursday, June 12th. The game is set against Ogallala. Juniors will begin at 4:30, and the seniors will follow at 7:00.
