Monday night at approximately 10:05, an accident was reported near mile marker eight on highway six. Chase County Sheriffs office, IVFD and Imperial EMS responded.
A 2007 Freight liner pulling a loaded grain trailer, owned by Trejo Trucking of Paoli Colorado and driven by Jose Luis Rojas, 28 of Imperial, was the cause of the call.
Rojas was west bound on Highway 6 when he dropped off the north side of the roadway onto the shoulder. Due to the rain at the time, the shoulder was very soft and pulled the trailer into the ditch.
When Rojas attempted to correct the vehicle, it rolled, spilling the load of grain in the north ditch. The trailer was in the ditch but the semi tractor was on the road, blocking the west bound lane.
Rojas was checked and released at the scene with no injuries by Imperial EMS.
The west bound lane was blocked for several hours before the truck and trailer could be removed. The truck trailer and load were a total loss. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were heavy rain and high winds.
Chief Deputy Dukes was the officer that worked the scene.
