Chase County Commissioners meet

    The Chase County Commissioners met at 8:00 a.m. at the Chase County Courthouse on May 13, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Jacci Brown.
    No one was present for the open forum. Highway Superintendant Toney Krajewski met with the board concerning a stop sign study at the intersection of Road 732 and 331. It was decided that stop signs should be placed on the intersection traveling East and West.
    The board moved to approve the minutes of the April 22 meeting and the joint March 6 meeting with the Hospital Board. Motion passed.
    There was discussion of a custodial position for the courthouse/extension office/EMS building. The board decided to advertise for a full time employee for the position, which would include upkeep of the outside appearance of the building as well as inside.
    Sheriff Kevin Mueller joined the meeting to discuss putting eight security cameras up at the fairgrounds. The commissioners asked him to proceed with the installation and monitoring of the cameras. Apparently there has been some vandalism and break-ins on the property.
    Discussion was held concerning a new auditor for the county. No action was taken. The Commissioners discussed the BCBS renewal rates, along with the County/Employee Contribution. After some discussion, it was decided not to raise the employees contributions to ensure that good employees would still seek employment at the courthouse.
    Tori Mueller, (Chase County Assessor), joined the meeting to discuss renewing the contract for GWorks. Discussion of changing to a new service followed but no action was taken at this time.
    Chase County Treasurer, Rebecca Bernard presented a request to discard some old broken desks from her office. Motion by Bernhardt, seconded by Schrotberger, to throw out the surplus broken desks. All voted yes and motion passed.
    With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
