The Lady Longhorns asserted dominance last week at the SPVA conference, winning the team title by 160 points. Chase County had 240 points, with Perkins County in second with 80.
Many first-place finishes were to be celebrated for Chase County, such as all three relays. The 400-meter relay, which included Ava McNair, Riley Rusher, Adelle Eskew, and Hayley Rusher, won with a time of 50.65 seconds. The 1600-meter relay claimed victory with a time of 4:16.13, which included Avery beemer, Landree McNair, Emily Randall, and R. Rusher. The 3200-meter relay won with a little less than a whole minute lead. Those runners included Miranda Spady, L. McNair, Elizabeth Hanna, and Randall.
For open events, R. Rusher won the 200-meter dash with her sister, H. Rusher, right behind her. Spady won the 400. In the 800, the Longhorns placed 1-2-3. Those runners included Randall, L. McNair, and Ashlyn Heermann, respectively. For the 3200-meter run, Alayan Smith and Tessa Smith went 1-2 with a 23-second gap to third place. A few field events also claimed victory. Those included L. McNair in High Jump, H. Rusher in Pole Vault, Eskew in Long Jump, and A. McNair in Triple Jump.
Plenty of second-place finishes could be found as well, R. Rusher in the 100; Hanna in the 1600; Paige Owens in the 100 and 300 hurdles; Spady in Shot Put; and Beemer in Pole Vault; Eskew in Triple Jump; and A. McNair in Long Jump.
Up next for the Lady Longhorns is Best of the Midwest on Tuesday, May 6th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm at Sutherland. After the completion of that meet, they will then travel to Dundy County to compete at the Twilight Meet. The meet is scheduled on Friday, May 9th, and will start at 12:30 pm.
