After an unexpected snow day, the Longhorn Quizbowl team made their way to Hershey to compete in the South Platte Valley Association competition. As the competition progressed, it became clear that the Longhorns were performing exceptionally well.
When the results were announced, Chase County was celebrated as the undefeated champion of SPVA. In second place was Perkins County and Bridgeport claimed third. The team scored a total of 310 points. The Longhorns opened the competition with a win of 85-25 against North Platte St. Pats. After a major win, Chase County took all the points against Kimball with a score of 85-0. The following matches were close with Hershey with a score of 60-35, 40-35 against Perkins County, and a more significant win of 40-10 to Bridgeport.
This triumph was a significant improvement from the previous year, where the Longhorns ended up in third with a 3-3 record whereas this year, their record was 5 wins with zero losses.
Looking ahead, the Quiz Bowl team is gearing up for their next competition in Bartley on March 26th. After the completion of the competition, member Andrew Wiest will then travel to Kearney for Speech.
