For the 2025 speech season, Chase County decided to draw to a close of traveling to the Sutherland invite and travel east to a more competitive meet. The head coach, Alex Schilke, decided Gothenburg would be a good meet for the Longhorns to travel to. Out of many teams from across the state, the Longhorns placed 4th with only eight members competing.
Out of almost four hundred entries out of the entire meet, Chase County placed five events in the top six. Competing in Varsity, George Colton, Andrew Wiest Jesus Juarez, and Paige Nickless claimed 4th in Oral Interpretation of Drama. Also placing fourth was Wiest in Humorous Prose. Jasmine Johnson achieved sixth place in the event Entertainment Speaking. Winning the event Serious Prose was Colton. Entered in the Novice section was Annabelle Kimble, capturing victory in Program of Oral Interpretation.
Also participating but not placing top six was Johnson in Program of Oral Interpretation, Colton in Persuasive Speaking, Wiest in Serious Prose, Nickless in Humuerous Prose as well as Entertainment, and Chloe Colton and Alyssa Schilke in Duet Acting.
Next up for the Longhorns is the Blue and Gold Invitation at North Platte High. The meet is set to be held on February 15th and begins at 8:00 am Central Time.
