Janie Mullanix selected as Club Woman of the Year

Janie Mullanix has been a member of the GFWC Champion Junior Woman’s Club for over thirty years. She has served as Club President of her club for many years, to be exact she will be starting her 12th year as president and the club just keeps asking her to be president as she goes outside the box for her club members and community.  The day she joined the club her feet haven’t hit the floor since.  Not only has she served her club, but she has been District President numerous times. Under her great leadership as club president, the club membership has grown every year. She has expanded the club’s service projects to the residents of the community and its surrounding area.
The year-round projects that this club member heads up include:
New Membership Picnic
Scarecrow contest at a pumpkin patch, this is membership drive project
Creating and delivery over 40 Christmas Goodie Bags to the older and single residents
Putting on the Holiday of Trees event
Serving soup and pie supper with live music for members of the community
Sponsoring a St. Patrick’s Day Party for residents of the local nursing home
Picking up trash along the town highway (both sides)
Making sure students are sponsored for Sophomore Pilgrimage
Also making sure students in the local school participate in
“Beautiful Nebraska” Post card contest
Providing a scholarship to students for SCORE which is the summer science camp
Contributing to after the Prom Party
Volunteering at the local movie theater
Cleaning the Historical Museum and serving an ice cream social
Also Serving Ice Cream at the local fair
Providing Funeral dinners for those in the community
Contribute money to families in need throughout the community with the cost of their medical treatment services
Janie continues to be committed to her club and community working hard to keep Champion a great place to live.
