Patricia E. Hanken

Patricia E. Hanken, age 66, of McCook, Nebraska passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook.
Patricia was born Feb. 15, 1956 in San Diego, California to parents Richard A. and Elizabeth Ann (Wells) Simants. She was one of three children.  The family moved to Palisade where Patricia attended school, graduating in 1974.  
On Feb. 20, 1993, Patricia married Gary Hanken in Palisade. Over the years, Patricia spent time putting together puzzles, reading, playing cards and visiting with her family and friends. She collected Boyd Bears and enjoyed cross stitch.  Patricia was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary and the Community Service Club of Palisade.  
Over the years, Patricia drove the Palisade school bus, worked at the T-Junction in Imperial and was a postal clerk for many years at the Palisade Post Office.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard Simants.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Gary Hanken, of McCook; three sons, Dennis (Kristin) Decker of Eagle, Idaho, Randy Decker of McCook and James (Renee) Baxter of Forney, Texas; daughter, Rebecca (Kelsey) Gloe of North Platte; brother Dan (Heather) Simants of Fairbanks, Alaska; and her six grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 18 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Pastor Joshua Clark.
Inurnment will follow in the Palisade Cemetery, Palisade.
