Grant community looking to keep elder care

A town hall meeting is set for Thursday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Grant Methodist Church in Grant to continue exploring the maintenance of elder care in Perkins County, according to Mark Bottom, who is leading the effort.
Bottom stepped forward to pursue options to maintain elder care in some form after the Perkins County Health Services Board of Directors voted May 16 not to renew the license of its nursing home, Golden Ours, with its final license set to expire on July 15.
According to Bottom, Tim Groshans will be present at the June 9 meeting to lead those in attendance in examining what needs to be done to maintain elder care in the county.
Groshans is a 1982 graduate of Perkins County schools, and is the current the administrator of the Burwell nursing home.
“He (Groshans) has a true desire to serve the skilled nursing home community,” Bottom said. “That desire started in the Golden Ours nursing facility while back from college.”  
 Groshans has built nursing homes throughout Nebraska, including Burwell, Aurora and more. He consults with communities in situations similar to Perkins County’s, Bottom said,
“He has agreed to come and be at the meeting to potentially help guide some decision-making and help educate us. He is doing this as service to community and out of his good will,” Bottom said.
Bottom said Groshans has stated that Golden Ours has a unique place in his journey towards his career in providing high quality nursing care facilities.
