New high school science teacher begins second semester at CCS
Justin Anderson, originally from Kersey, Colorado, accepted a teaching position at Chase County Schools second semester filling a vacant position.
Anderson received a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with an emphasis in secondary education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 2019.
He began his teaching career in Fort Morgan, Colorado as a high school science teacher before coming to CCS.
Anderson is a former collegiate track athlete, and while in Fort Morgan, he coached high school track, boys junior varsity golf and was the sponsor for the high school science club and science fair.
In addition to teaching at CCS, Anderson said he will be assisting with middle school track.
“I chose to follow a teaching career while in college. I started helping classmates with their studies and loved seeing them learn,” he said.
He knew then that he wanted to spend the rest of his life teaching, plus it had a bonus that would allow him time to spend with family in the future, he added.
“I love showing students they can learn no matter what they may have been told. I want to build relationships with my students that let them know I am here for them, and I care,” said Anderson.
Anderson and his wife, Rebecca, have 7-month-old twin daughters named Emmy and Hazel.
When not teaching or spending family time, he said he likes any outdoor activity especially hunting and fishing.
“I am so appreciative of the school and community welcoming us here. It feels like it’s been a race so far,” he laughed.
