Brian Michael Stute was born March 26, 1967, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to Arlene Kay (Pursley) and Larry Glenn Stute. He grew up in Benkelman and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1985. After graduation, Brian played football at Pratt Community College where he completed his associate’s degree in agriculture.
Brian went on to further his agricultural education by spending a semester at Chadron State College and a semester at Colby Community College. He finally found “the One” to love him unconditionally and married Trina Kay Marlin on Oct. 20, 1990, at the United Methodist Church in Benkelman. The newlyweds settled north of Benkelman where Brian managed the family ranch, having been a rancher all of his life.
During high school, Brian worked for Tom Maranville haying and farming. After college, he returned to Benkelman to work for PureGro/Simplot for many years and the Fries Harvesters for over 30 years. He was also a registered brand inspector for the State of Nebraska.
Brian was loved by his community and was an active member of the 4-H council, Jaycees, Nebraska Brand Association and the Benkelman Presbyterian Church. He was also the president of the Predator Control Association and managed in-season meetings that included members from Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado. Brian was an avid sportsman of horseshoes, cornhole and the Yummy 4-man Scramble. He is known to have perfected the backwards drive.
Brian was always very shy and always businesslike. Yeah right! Brian was infamous for telling jokes and scaring people. If he didn’t know you, well give him about 30 seconds. Brian especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
His wife, Trina, and two boys, Cole and Seth, were the most important people to him. His concern and love for them is why he worked the way he did. Brian never met a stranger and with that he was gifted with the heart for checking on friends, family, and those he didn’t know but heard needed help.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Larry Stute, and his father-in-law, Harlin Marlin.
Brian passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial. He was 54 years young.
He is survived by his wife, Trina of Benkelman; sons: Cole Stute of Benkelman, Seth Stute and his fiancée, Danielle Eichenberger, of Arapahoe; mother, Arlene Stute of Benkelman; mother-in-law, Sandy Marlin of Benkelman; grandson, Asher, who called him Grandpup; brother, Kurt (wife Michell) Stute of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Teresa (husband Rodney) Damrow of Max; brother-in-law, Toby (wife Miranda) Marlin of Benkelman; nieces and nephews: Haeley, Logan, Lynsi, Job, Braylee and Steel Stute, Kayla and Matt Kling, Leslie and Kyle Steffen and Major and Slade Marlin; and many much loved extended family members and dear friends that are equally family.
