Slice Fore Life golf benefit grosses more than $32,000

Saturday was a beautiful day for golf, and also a winning one for the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
The annual Slice Fore Life fundraiser organized by the foundation grossed more than $32,000, said Shawn Jaeger, foundation and marketing coordinator.
The funds came from sponsors, entry fees and a silent auction held during the tournament.
Jaeger said 15 four-person teams and seven two-person teams, including a total of 74 golfers, were on the Enders Lake Golf Course for Saturday’s 18-hole best ball tourney.
The day’s event were changed up a bit so it would conclude earlier and allow people to attend the evening Smokin’ on Broadway events in Imperial.
“It went really well, all was planned out well,” Jaeger said after coordinating his first Slice Fore Life since coming on board at the hospital.
He said Enders Lake Golf Course owners Trevor and Kari Amen were invaluable assets to running the day’s events.
Golfers and the public had the chance to try to outbid each other in the silent auction, which featured nine items. Top seller was the Ballyneal Golf trip with two caddies purchased by Aaron Cyboron and Eric McDaniel, Jaeger said.
Platinum, silver and bronze sponsorships helped put on the tournament, Jaeger noted.
During the past year, Jaeger said the hospital received $3.5 million in COVID relief CARES Act funding, which he called “a game changer” in the purchase of equipment and other needs.
He said those funds have given them more flexibility to focus on their priorities, with recruiting a family physician at the top. Saturday’s fundraiser will aid in that effort.
