Simply Strings concert May 2 includes three local musicians

    Three local musicians are part of “Simply Strings” that has a May 2 performance scheduled in McCook.
    Joel Grosbach of Enders is conductor for Simply Strings which also includes Cathy Howard of Imperial on viola and Amber Grosbach, also of Enders, on cello.
    Simply Strings includes a group of 25 musicians from McCook and the area.
    The May 2 concert will begin at 4 p.m. CT at the historic Fox Theatre in McCook.
     It  will follow the theme, “Land We Love” and include music written by American composers, Grosbach said.
    Some of the music to be performed includes “Songs of the South,” “America the Beautiful,” “Spirit of the Mesa” and “Open Arms” by Journey.
    The one exception to the American composers  featured will be themes from “New World Symphony” written by Antonin Dvorak, which includes some American musical sensibilities, Grosbach said.
    Freewill offering will be accepted at the concert, which is expected to run an hour and 15 minutes.
    The May 2 performance is sponsored by the McCook Arts Council, the McCook Community Foundation, the Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
    Originally scheduled last fall, next weekend’s concert was postponed until May 2 due to COVID-19.
    Simply Strings performed in Imperial in the past at a Christmas program at Zion Lutheran Church.
