Chase County Quiz Bowl competes at MCC, SPVA
Chase County’s Academic Quiz Bowl team took part in two meets in March.
CCS traveled to McCook Community College for the ESU #15 Quiz Bowl Tournament March 15.
Hitchcock County won the tournament and McCook was second. Both teams will compete in the State ESU competition to be held this month in Hastings.
Also taking part was Dundy County-Stratton, Hayes Center, Maywood, Medicine Valley, Southwest and Wauneta-Palisade.
CCS placed seventh after winning three of its eight matches.
The following day CCS traveled to Perkins County for the SPVA Quiz Bowl Tournament.
North Platte St. Pat’s won the competition, Hershey was second and Sutherland third.
CCS didn’t win a match, but Quiz Bowl sponsor Chelsea Zuege said that doesn’t show how well CCS students competed.
“We had three matches at SPVA that basically came down to sudden death on the last question,” Zuege said.
Charles Barnes, Mercedes Peterson, Brice Vitosh, LaReina Colton, Emmitt Zuege, Arturo Miscles and Madelynn Hanes participated for CCS.
Students hear questions over all academic areas such as history, math, science, english & literature, art, music, current events, among others.
