Game & Parks plans for centennial

Events are still needing volunteers

The first planning meeting for the Nebraska Game and Parks centennial celebration was held last Thursday.
Those attending discussed details for the event, setting the date for June 4-6, 2021, at Enders State Recreation Area, said Beau Licking, parks superintendent for Chase and Dundy counties.
“All the plans are not complete yet, but we do have a tentative list of things in place,” he said.
To kick off the celebration the band Shooter Jaxx from Benkelman will be playing Friday night, June 4.
On Saturday the Gould Brothers from Alexandria, Minnesota, are scheduled to perform a one-of-a-kind live trick shooting show, said Licking.
Other activities planned for the celebration weekend include a 5K run, a BBQ smoke-off and a car show for everything from cars to trucks, he added.
“We will be having additional meetings in the future which will be announced in the paper,” Licking said.
Licking is encouraging the public to get involved. Volunteers are needed to help with the planning and execution of the centennial celebration activities.
“We are especially in need of someone to take the lead on the car show,” he said.
