Kids ages eight to 13 chased down calves with bows on their tails during intermission of the Ranch Rodeo.

Renegade Ranch team takes top honors at Ranch Rodeo

    An early evening rain shower didn’t spoil the fun at the Ranch Rodeo Friday night.
    Out of 16 teams, Renegade Ranch of Torrington, Wyoming enjoyed their long ride home with the best time of the night under their belts.
    Renegade Ranch, with a time of 2:15, finished 32 seconds better than the second place team Going Broke. Bow 3 placed third with a total time of 2:53.
    The rodeo featured two events.
    The evening opened with doctor one, pen one, mug one. Competitors had to rope a steer, put a rope around the front and back legs then mark them; put a steer in a pen and close the gate; and rope a steer, get it down and three legs tied.
     Renegade Ranch, team members Nolan Brott, Chance Lane, Logan Milligan and Reese Wilkins, posted the fast time in the event 1:13.
    Going Broke, made up of Nathan Brott, Wacey Hamilton, Kelly Tidyman and Casey Durner, was second; Kennedy Ranch, with Chance Kennedy, Wes Kennedy, Land Kennedy and Garrett Kruger, took third; and Bow 3, including Brenden Hermes, Anton Hermes, Kyle Leoffler and Justin Quint, placed fourth.
    During intermission, kids ages 8-13 were invited into the arena and given the chance to grab a bow off the tail of a three calves turned loose in a pen.  The first three to grab a bow were given a prize.
    Winners for the girls were Abby Spicer, first place; Jayme Gittlein, second place;  and Paige Owens, third place. Dryce Brott was first in the boys’ group, Brendon Astrada was second and Conner Stromberger placed third.
    The second team event was double trailer loading.
    Each team had to rope and load two calves into a trailer.
    Bow 3 placed first with a time of 44 seconds. Going Broke placed second and Renegade Ranch was third.
