Teply drops out of commissioner’s race

    The Democratic candidate in November’s election for District 1 Chase County Commissioner has dropped out of the race.
    Dave Teply, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, said he plans to move to Imperial and thus will no longer live in the district in which he had filed.
    He said he is relocating “for health reasons. I can’t walk very good and I can’t work, so (there was) no need for me staying in there because if I’d have won and had to move, where I’m moving isn’t even in District 1.”
    Teply would have faced Duane Dinnel, who defeated incumbent Chuck Vette and candidate Terry Bilka in the Republican primary.
    Chase County Clerk Debbie Clark confirmed that Teply has dropped out. She said she sent a letter to local Democratic Party officials telling them “the ball’s in their court, whether they want to form a committee” to look for a replacement for Teply.
    They would have until Sept. 1 to find a replacement, Clark said.
