Hearts go out to Imperial Parkview Heights residents

Sherri Burke, former manager at Imperial Parkview Heights, really misses the residents and regularly keeps in touch with them, said friend Mary Wilson.
In light of the current COVID-19 lock-down of the facility, Burke wanted to do something special for the residents.
“Sherri was the mastermind behind the idea of putting up hearts on all the doors and windows, inside and out of Heights,” said Wilson.
Burke contacted several people to implement her plan.
Burke, Wilson, Ronee Kruger and Ethan and Elizabeth Hanna, Wilson’s grandchildren, hung the hearts that were cut out from all different colors of construction paper, said Wilson.
Also assisting in cutting out the hearts were Sherri Buffington and Joeanna Jaeger.
“I don’t even know how many hearts we hung—it was insane how many—must have been a zillion,” said Wilson laughing. “It took us two hours to hang them everywhere in the Heights.”
The group wanted to brighten the residents’ day, Wilson said.
It was so funny seeing the residents watching them through the glass, she said.
“They would knock on the glass and wave at us, smiling ear to ear. They loved it—it was very cool,” she added.
Wilson said it was amazing how many residents got involved watching and waving with big smiles on their faces.
One resident poked her head out just long enough to say how nice it was to see a friendly face, said Wilson.
“My mom, Cathy Weber, lives at the Heights, and she goes on and on about it. She was so happy to see all the colorful hearts,” Wilson said.
The hearts were hung on April 9 in time for Easter.
