Interviews set for 7-12 principal; four CCS teachers hired

A committee of administrators and board members will be interviewing two candidates today (Thursday) for the 7-12 principal position at Chase County Schools.

An update on the principal position, along with hiring of four teachers and acceptance of resignations, were part of a special CCS board meeting Tuesday held by Zoom conference.

Supt. Larry Lambert said four people applied for the 7-12 principal’s position being vacated by Jon Lechtenberg at the end of the 2019-20 year.

Lechtenberg’s resignation was approved Tuesday on a 9-0 vote ahead of the discussion on candidate interviews.

Supt. Lambert, incoming Supt. Adam Lambert, K-6 Principal Becky Odens and board members Willy O’Neil, Carrie Terryberry and Cindy Arterburn will interview the two candidates.

Supt. Lambert said it’s hoped a consensus on who to hire, along with salary, can be agreed upon for action at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
