Nordhausen sets school’s 3-point record, ranked in C1

Mason Nordhausen, a Chase County Schools (CCS) junior, set a new CCS basketball record for most 3-pointers in a single game.
Nordhausen broke the record on Jan. 21 in the SPVA first round game against Perkins County when he hit nine treys.
The previous record of seven 3-pointers in a single game was held by Jeff Dickey in 2014.
Nordhausen isn’t just leading at home.
According to the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA), Nordhausen is also currently leading class C1 in most 3-pointers during the 2019-20 season.
The list of stat leaders for NSAA is counted via MaxPreps.com.
MaxPreps is a website used by high school coaches and athletes, similar to Hudl.
The website offers rankings, stat leader-boards, schedules and scores of high school teams and players.
Sitting in second place for C1 is Shea Sweetland, a senior from Wayne.
“(Nordhausen’s) threes made, that’s an impressive number, but when you do it at the percentage he’s doing, that’s what’s impressive,” Head Coach Chris Bartels said.
Both Nordhausen and Sweetland have hit 46 treys this season. However, Nordhausen’s percentage of making them is 50%, whereas Sweetland’s is just at 36%. Nordhausen has also been averaging 3.5 3-pointers per game compared to Sweetland’s 2.7.
“Yeah, it’d be hard to beat,” Bartels said. “He went on a hard pace there” during games against Wray, Kimball, Southern Valley and both contests against Perkins County.
“I think once he’s healthy again he’ll start that back up,” he added.
