Longhorns add three wins to record; Jussel out for season

“We played really well for the most part,” Head Coach Chris Bartels said.
Last week’s three wins are key in the upcoming weeks as the boys prepare for the SPVA Conference Tournament.
As of Tuesday, the Longhorns were ranked No. 3 in Class C-1 with 44.75 points. The Omaha World Herald also ranked them in the Top 10.
Dundy Co. Stratton
After school started up for 2020, Chase County traveled for a contest against Dundy Co. Stratton on Jan. 7.
“Playing Dundy County is always a big deal,” Bartels said. “(This game) wasn’t any exception.”
The Longhorns took the win, 71-38.
After good practices following the Cabela’s Holiday Tournament, Bartels said his team was focused and ready for the contest against the Tigers.
“Only giving up 38 points to a Dundy County team like that is impressive,” Bartels said. “It doesn’t hurt that our offense came alive in the second half.”
The Longhorns scored 45 points in the second half alone.
Kobe Clevenger and Cedric Maxwell tied for most points against DCS, each with 17.
Clevenger also led free throw shooting, hitting nine of 11.
Logan Jussel led on rebounds with seven.
