Ag-themed photos take top honors in hospital’s contest

    The ninth annual Chase County Hospital (CCH) “Images of Nebraska” photo contest attracted over 100 entries this year and was considered a successful event.
    That’s according to CCH Foundation Director Steve Lewis.
    Thirty-eight photographers submitted 130 photographs, which were judged by nine people.
    Last year 20 photographers submitted 77 photos, according to Deb Hrcka of the Foundation.
    “We were pleased not only with the level of participation but the quality of photos submitted,” Lewis commented.
    Overall Grand Champion was Rebecca Munderloh of Wauneta for her photograph, “Future Farmer.”
    Overall Reserve Grand Champion went to Tom Shield of Kearney for “Catch of the Day.”
    Russ Pankonin of Imperial took first place in the Professional’s contest for “Racing the Clouds.”
    The “Images of Nebraska” photo contest was developed for the purpose of promoting Nebraska and southwest Nebraska in general, along with providing an activity to involve the hospital with the community.
    There were four divisions in this years contest: 1) Nebraska Photos, 2) Chase County Photos, 3) Vintage Photos and 4) Youth Division for participants 12 years of age and under. The subject matter for each division was to come from one of the following categories; agriculture, wildlife, landmarks, architecture, landscapes or scenery. All photos must have been taken in Nebraska.
    Winners in each of the division were as follows:
