The roar of motorcycles Saturday morning signaled the start of the fifth annual Mayor’s Poker Run, which raised more than $2,000 for community assistance projects. Below, winners of the best poker hands, who received a $100 gas card, a pair of Chase County Fair tickets and a $50 gas card, were from left, Kevin Way of Imperial, first; Roley Arterburn of Lamar, second; and Jeff Leyland of Imperial, third. Bug spot contest winners were Brent Bussell of Imperial and Katie Erickson of Maxwell, and there were also 13 door prizes awarded. Middle, two riders listen to Dave Irey, who provides some information on ABATE and its goals. The Giving Circle, which helped organize the event, registered riders and provided the evening meal, will receive the $2,028 in proceeds which will be donated for individual community assistance and community projects.
