Now that she’s here, new doctor feels at home in Chase County

Even though she’s only been living in Imperial for a few weeks, Dr. Liz Hatz says it feels like home.
Hatz came to Imperial from Port St. Lucie, Florida to work at Chase County Community Hospital and its clinics in Imperial and Wauneta.
“We were in Florida for residency. We never intended to stay (for that long) because it was easier to not have to move,” Hatz said.
Hatz and her family started looking for different options about a year ago.
“I really wanted an academic position,” Hatz said.
After a second interview started to fall through, a recruiter convinced Hatz to go visit Imperial.
So Hatz and her husband, Andrew, flew into Denver.
“My husband’s from Arvada and Denver is where we met, so it felt like coming home,” Hatz said. “We’re like ‘this is pretty nice. We like this.’”
